Hello, all! I came across your website while trying to research my question. I am new to the Kansas City area and am looking to get possibly get back into umpiring. I umpired high school and legion ball for eight years down in SWMO. I was younger then, of course, but I was worked my way up to get assigned 3A and some 4A varsity games. Anyway, I haven't called games in a few years, but I'd like to get back into it.
My question is this: How does assigning work up here? Is there an association that assigns games? Does an association assign Legion, but AD's make their own calls for high schools? Or is it entirely freelance? In SWMO, we had an association that made almost all of our assignments for us. It was pretty nice--you just told them when you could work, and they gave you games.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Who knows, maybe I'll need to take a clinic to get my skills back in shape!
